Mongolia – Update on the suspension of mail exchanges with Korea (Rep.) and Japan

27 February, 2020

The designated operator of Mongolia, Mongol Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to the outbreak and rapid spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), the competent authorities of Mongolia have suspended all flights to/from (Korea (Rep.) and Japan until 11 March 2020. This period may, however, be extended. The processing of all inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) originating in, and destined for, Korea (Rep.) and Japan is currently suspended as a result. Mongol Post is continuing to receive and dispatch mail from and to other countries and processing it at its International Mail Processing Centre MNULNA, following sanitary treatment. However, due to the closure of all domestic routes by air, rail and road, the collection and delivery of letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items is disrupted and subject to delays.

Mongol Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding. It will update them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
