In case of impossibility to contact the addressee or in case of parcels addressed to businesses, cultural institutions, commercial activities and other entities temporarily closed in compliance with Prime Ministerial Decree issued on March 25th 2020, items can be returned to sender after the first attempt of delivery.
The list of most affected municipalities is constantly updated and can be consulted in the following dedicated section in Poste Italiane Internet site: https://www.poste.it/emergenza-covid19.html.
Further to additional measures aimed at minimizing the spread of COVID-19 and to protect employees’ health, only parcels below 25kg weight, 120cm length and 150cm of the three dimensions combined can be accepted, thus allowing processing by a single person. Parcels exceeding the above-mentioned maximum weight and size will not be accepted until further notice: designated operators are, therefore, kindly asked to comply with these restrictions. The above-described restrictions do not apply to donations.
Moreover, owing to the increasingly lack of transport capacity following the cancellation of numerous international flights as part of measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, and further to declaration of force majeure and suspension of postal services in several countries, Poste Italiane is constantly updating its list of admitted outbound destinations accordingly, reported in the above-mentioned dedicated webpage.
Poste Italiane thanks all other designated operators for their understanding and will promptly inform them as soon as the situation is back to normal.
