Service Update Bulletin 25th January

International Services

USA: Update 22nd January

There will be serious service disruptions within the USA for 24-48 hours. This is due to the snowstorm that was due to take place over the weekend. The storm is affecting mostly the mid-Atlantic and northeast areas with over 3000 flights cancelled ahead of the storm with major airlines shutting down their operation entirely from Thursday to Sunday.

Brazil: Update 21st January

The network problems previously experienced at the BR GRU airmail facility (BRSAOD-GRU) has now been resolved and registration of bags in the IPS system is proceeding as normal.

Netherlands: Update 20th January

There have been severe disruptions for the collection and delivery of mail on 5th, 6th and 7th January due to bad weather conditions and icy roads. There has been a code red alert in the north of The Netherlands for post code areas 7700-7999 and 8300-9999. There were no delivery of mail by foot during this time but by 8th January collection and delivery were more or less back to normal.

Services to France

A delay is expected in some mail going to department 38. This is due to technical problems on the link Chelles / Sassenage.

Expect a day’s delay for some letters from Department 60 to the entire territory. This is due to a technical problem in the Creil PIC sorting centre.

UK Services

Air, Road and Rail

Some mail posted in the BL, M, OL and SK postcode areas for delivery in parts of the Midlands, South East and South West on Saturday may have arrived later than expected. This is due to heavy traffic on Friday night resulting in the late arrival of a vehicle from Manchester Mail Centre to the National Distribution Centre in Daventry.

Some mail posted in the CF, LD and NP postcode areas for delivery in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned. This is due to a breakdown of a vehicle travelling from Cardiff Mail centre to Warrington Rail Terminal on Friday night.

There will be no deliveries or collections taking place in the ZE postcode area on Wednesday 27th January due to a local holiday in Shetland Island. Normal Services will resume on Thursday 28th January.

The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
