Service Update Bulletin 23rd November

International Services

Finland: Update 19th November

Due to a postal strike which started on November 19th and is expecting to last until the 25th of November, there may be delays in the daily deliveries of letters, magazines, newspapers, advertisements, and parcels. Local stoppages will also affect the early-morning delivery of newspapers in the capital region and Uusimaa.

The PAU have organised stoppages of work from 19th-25th November as follows:

  • November 20th and 23rd-25th
Mail sorting and delivery in the capital region and Uusimaa

  • November 19th-21st and 23rd-25th
Parcel services at the logistics centre in Vantaa and Lieto. The stoppages of work delays parcel delivery in the whole country.

  • November 20th-21st and 23rd-25th
Newspaper delivery in the capital region (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen) and Uusimaa

PAU has also given strike notices to other parts of Finland starting on the 25th of November. The backlog accumulated during the possible industrial action will cause some delays in the delivery of mail for several weeks.

USA: Update 18th November

There may be some delays in the delivery of mail, due to a reduced capacity of mail from flight cancellations for Thanksgiving in the coming week.

Jamaica: Update 17th November

Transit services to Cuba will resume today, Monday 23rd November.

Services to France

Expect a delay for a portion of mail due to an industrial action in the distribution centre of Quimper Ergué Gaberic (29500).

A delay is expected for a portion of mail due to an industrial action on the Nanterre distribution centre (92000).

Expect a delay for a portion of mail coming from department 76. This is due to an industrial action in the sorting centre Rouen Madrillet PIC.

Expect a day’s delay for some letters from Department 60 to the entire territory. This is due to a technical problem in the Creil PIC sorting centre.

From 21st November please allow up to 48 hours delay on all parcels and letters on Air France flights from La Poste. This is due to the serious strengthening on security measures preventing La Poste from sending letters and parcels on a normal and daily basis. Office Exchanges, collections, delivery and transport processes work as usual without any delays.

UK Services

Air, Road and Rail

There may have been some delay to a small amount of mail from the Channel Islands to the rest of the UK on Saturday. This is due to a road service from Bournemouth Mail Centre running late into the National Distribution Centre (NDC) near Daventry on Friday night.

Some mail from parts of the UK to the SA and NR postcode areas arrived later than scheduled. This is due to late running vehicles from the NDC to the Swansea and Norwich Mail Centres on Friday night.

A slight delay to some mail sent to and from Northern Ireland and Mainland UK for delivery on Saturday may have had a slight delay. This is due to a late running flight from East Midlands Airport to Belfast on Friday night.

The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
