Service Update Bulletin 14th December

International Services

Uruguay: Update 10th December

There has been an industrial action at the Uruguayan Association of Postal Workers (AFPU) since 17th November 2015. These measures have affected the processing of inward international mail (parcels, EMS, LC / AO items in general and small packets). The designated operator of Uruguay asks the designated operators of Union member countries to send ordinary letter-post items ONLY, without track and trace (except for small packets).

Australia: Update 9th December

There were further industrial actions by customs staff from Thursday 10th December – Monday 14th December which affected all offices of exchange.

Iceland: Update 8th December

Due to a storm that started on Monday 7th December all roads to and from Reykjavik were closed, including the road to Keflavik airport. All processing was stopped at 16:00 in all locations, including the OE, due to a nationwide alert advising people to stay at home and not to travel under any circumstance.

The effect on international mail was that inbound mail was not collected from Keflavik airport in the afternoon last Monday and no processing was possible for this mail. There was no mail sent outbound on Monday, with departure Tuesday morning to Europe.

Services to France

Expect a delay for a portion of mail due to an industrial action at the distribution centre of Rouen Madrillet (76801), Neuilly sur Seine PDC1 (92200) and Rochefort du Gard (30650).

Expect a day’s delay for some letters from Department 60 to the entire territory. This is due to a technical problem in the Creil PIC sorting centre.

UK Services

Air, Road and Rail

Small amounts of mail travelling between Central and Southern Scotland and North East Scotland may be arriving later than planned. This is due to technical issues with an air service operating between Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airports on Friday night.

A small amount of mail from parts of the North of England, Midlands and Wales may be arriving later than planned in the far South West of England. This is due to a late running flight from East Midlands to Exeter Airport on Sunday night.

Some mail posted in the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may be arriving later than scheduled in parts of North West England and North Wales. This is due to a late running road service from the Glasgow Mail Centre to the North West Distribution Centre in Warrington on Friday night.

The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
