Service Update Bulletin 7th December

International Services

Greece: Update 2nd December

International and domestic mail for collections and delivery were affected for 24-hours on Thursday 3rd December. This is due to the Confederation of the Greek workers and the Association of the Civil Servants announcing a 24-hour strike. This did not include air traffic controllers.

Australia: Update 2nd December

Australia Post expects disruption to the handling of all inbound mail between Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th December. This is due to an industrial action at the inbound Australian exchange offices. There may be a backlog after the industrial action due to the mail being held up during the strike.

Services to France

Delays to mail products and services are expected due to the Strasbourg Christmas market being held from the 27 November - 24th December.

There will be a number of security measures in place, which include shipping restrictions in the centre of Strasbourg. The following post code area 67xxx will be affected.

Due to a social movement in the Saint Maximin distribution center (60740); the Rochefort du Gard (30650) distribution center, and the Neuilly sur Seine distribution center PDC1 (92200), delays are expected for a portion of the mail from these centres.

Expect a day’s delay for some letters from Department 60 to the entire territory. This is due to a technical problem in the Creil PIC sorting centre.

UK Services

Air, Road and Rail

Normal weekend deliveries and collections took place in almost all parts of the North of England on Saturday. However, the adverse weather conditions and localised flooding in many parts, especially Cumbria, have disrupted some collections and deliveries.

Normal weekend deliveries and collections took place in almost all parts of Scotland on Saturday. However the adverse weather conditions including high winds and localised flooding have disrupted services in many parts of the country. The Royal Mail will be out delivering and collecting mail in all areas where access is possible and it's safe for their staff people to do so.

The closure of the Forth Road Bridge and the introduction of a long detour is currently affecting running times between the Royal Mail's Edinburgh Mail Centre and delivery offices north of the Firth of Forth. As a consequence it's possible some collections and deliveries in the areas affected (KY, PH and DD postcodes) may be made at different times from normal over the coming weeks

The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
