Service Update Bulletin 14th December

International Services

Italy: Update 30th December

Poste Italiane informs that there may be delays expected for all outbound items (letters, parcels, EMS and EPG). This is due to an outage of IT systems impacting overnight operations.

Japan: Update 30th December

Effective immediately and until further notice, Japan Post will not be accepting international postal items containing small vehicles powered by lithium batteries (hover boards, gyro boards). The reason for this policy change is the possibility that such vehicles use lithium batteries that do not meet the conditions of the Letter Post and Parcel Post Regulations.

Uruguay: Update 22nd December

The industrial action that was taking place by Uruguayan Association of Postal Workers (AFPU) is now over. The processing of inward international mail has returned to normal (parcels, EMS, LC/AO items in general and small packets) and items can be forwarded to Uruguay.

Services to France

There may be a delay expected for a portion of mail due to an industrial action at the Neuilly sur Seine distribution centre PDC1 (92200).

Expect a day’s delay for some letters from Department 60 to the entire territory. This is due to a technical problem in the Creil PIC sorting centre.

UK Services

Air, Road and Rail

There may be possible delays for all mail items expected in parts of York and areas of NW England (Cumbria). This is due to serious flooding and damage caused in York and surrounding postcodes which are closed off. Additionally, the PFW depot in Leeds has had to move to another depot to operate as they have been flooded and will be out of the depot for at least a week.

The rest of the UK network operated well over the weekend.
