Service Update Bulletin 3rd October 2016

International Services

Aruba: Update 30th September

All post offices were closed on Thursday 29th September from 12:00 to Friday 30th September. This is due to the Tropical Storm Matthew which lasted until Saturday afternoon. This has resulted in delays in all mail services.

Barbados: Update 30th September

All post offices were closed on Wednesday 28th September. This is due to the Tropical Storm Matthew, which has resulted in all airmail and seaports being closed. The Grantley Adams International Airport and Bridgetown Sea Port have now resumed operations.

The island-wide shut down affected Barbados Postal Service's ability to send and receive mail to and from other member countries.

Please note that the country is still experiencing showers and windy conditions; however, flights that were being diverted to other countries will resume service to Barbados on 30th September.

Australia: Update 29th September

Due to severe weather conditions in South Australia all collections and delivery of mail has been affected. There have been power outages and flooded roads, resulting in Australia Post not being able to reach some areas. This will be affected for the rest of this week.

Australia: Update 29th September

The strike at Australia post is being extended until 16th October. EMS products are being prioritized and are still being processed on time at this stage. The randomness of the industrial action makes it extremely difficult to plan for contingencies, as customs staff can walk out with just 30 minutes' notice. As time goes on, delays on inbound leg 2 are to be expected for all products.

China: Update 29th September

The typhoon Megi started in the southeast coast on 28th September, with violent winds and rain. This has affected areas including the areas of Fuijan, Zhejiang and Guangdong. As a result the collection and delivery of all mail products are affected (postcodes in the range 310xxx, 318xxx, 323xxx, 325xxx, 350xxx, 351xxx, 361xxx, 362xxx, 515xxx and 521xxx).

Belgium: Update 28th September

On Thursday 29th September, Belgium's unions planned a national demonstration in Brussels to protest against government policy and plans. Unfortunately, this may have had an impact on cargo and flights and could lead to delays in outbound and inbound mail.

Norway: Update 27th September

There have been changes to the Norwegian post code system. Please click here for further information.

Some mail posted in parts of the UK for delivery in the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may arrive later than planned. This is due to a vehicle from the North West Distribution Centre departing late for Glasgow Mail Centre.
