Our scope of actions & sustainability key commitments

We embrace truly sustainable business practices, both as a differentiator in the market and as a strategy for long term, market-leading success.

Our strategy is built upon the mantra of Measure, Reduce, Offset and Advise, which is an integral part of everything we do.

  • Measure: We calculate carbon emissions linked to transportation, energy consumption, business travel and commuting.

  • Reduce: Making our business more energy efficient - optimising transport, increasing energy efficiency, purchasing responsibly.

  • Offset: Asendia is measuring and reducing direct and indirect carbon emissions. For emissions that cannot be reduced, Asendia is committed to voluntary carbon offsetting: it’s all part of the service for our European customers.

From July 2014, all mail and deliveries from European customers is carbon neutral, at no cost to the customer. In Asia and USA, we are committed to evaluating market needs and propose tailored solutions.

  • Advise: Within its portfolio, Asendia provides sustainable services that avoid unnecessary sending of mail and therefore reduce carbon emissions without compromising quality of service.

Among others this includes, the provision of free school meals, helping to raise school attendance; mobile health clinics for families and their animals; the improvement of local roads; financial skills workshops for women to help them start their own businesses and become financially independent.

The project makes a positive difference to people’s daily lives and is verified under one of the most internationally recognised carbon offset standards – the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS).
