Environmental policy and sustainability

Asendia UK Ltd has a strong environmental policy. It is Asendia UK’s policy to manage our business in the most environmentally responsible manner and to comply with the applicable environmental legislations and with any other requirements necessary, in relation to the environmental aspects of our business.

We shall assess and consider the environmental impact of all our activities at planned intervals and use the environmental management system to provide a framework for the setting and reviewing of environmental objectives and targets, to help support our continuous improvement.

The Senior Management Board of Asendia UK defines our Environmental Policy, which is realised through the statements and procedures referenced in the environmental policy manual.

The Environmental Policy ensures that the documentation is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts on our activities, products and services and includes a commitment to continuous improvement and the prevention of pollution.

This policy is documented, implemented, maintained and communicated to all employees and sub-contractors working on behalf of Asendia UK.

Our employees are expected to make at least the following contribution to help us meet our environmental objectives, and sign a declaration to that effect on joining the company:

  • Conserve raw materials, including paper.
  • Reduce and prevent pollution by disposing of rubbish and waste paper in the appropriate bins.
  • Save energy by switching off lights and computers when not required.
  • Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
  • Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst our customers and suppliers.
  • Follow the environmental working practices in the production and warehouse areas.
  • Be aware of any environmental legislation that may affect the job they do, and make suggestions for improvements.

Asendia launches a carbon mitigation programme

Asendia UK Ltd is taking further responsibility for its impact on the environment through engagement in a corporate partnership with experts at the Woodland Trust, by creating a flexible product that will allow us to invest in the highest quality carbon ‘lock up’ or ‘mitigation’ schemes both in the UK and overseas.

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading conservation charity working to protect, restore and plant more native woods and trees.

Asendia UK’s customers are invited to take part in the scheme in order to mitigate their own carbon impact.
